(Ottawa, October 22, 2009) CIU in support to canadian museum workers

Striking workers (members of PSAC) at the Museum of Civilization are mounting an outdoor exhibit, featuring portraits of 200 workers who are currently on strike at the Museum of Civilization and War Museum. The installation is designed to show the faces and tell the stories of the museums’ Striking Treasures – the dedicated and passionate workers who have been on strike since September 21, 2009.


(Ottawa, October 21, 2009) CIU awards Brother George Scott with Life Membership

To recognize and honour Brother George Scott, whose personal and devoted efforts on behalf of the membership during their years of service have rightfully earned them the highest award attainable within the Union.


(Whitehorse, September 2009) NJC Seminar and Visit of Northern Worksites

At the end of this past September, Brother Moran attended the National Joint Council (NJC) Seminar on behalf of the PSAC. Many do not realize that the NJC is the oldest federal public service joint process through which employer and employee representatives try to find middle-ground. The seminar was held in Whitehorse this year, with the theme of the conference being the challenges faced in the North.

Given already being in the North represented a rare opportunity; Brother Moran remained in the Yukon for a few extra days following the NJC conference and tried to meet with as many CIU members from the North as possible.


(Vancouver, April 2009) CIU Delegates at the PSAC Convention

The 15th National Triennial Convention of the Public Service Alliance of Canada took place at the Vancouver Convention & Exhibition Centre in Vancouver, BC April 26 – May 1, 2009.

The theme for the 2009 PSAC National Triennial Convention was: Lead the Way for Quality Public Services.
