Alternate Work Arrangements (AWA) Committee
| Over the last few years CBSA has unilaterally revoked alternative working arrangements in various parts of the country, long-standing arrangements that complied with Treasury Board’s Telework Policy. In the last round of negotiations, our FB Bargaining Team repeatedly raised the issue of alternative working arrangements for Trade Compliance workers at the bargaining table. As a result of those discussions, and in good faith, we agreed to set up a committee with management to discuss CBSA’s adherence to the Treasury Board Telework Policy. |
The Treasury Board Telework Policy states that the employer:
“encourages departments to implement telework arrangements where it is economically and operationally feasible to do so, and in a fair, equitable and transparent manner”.
It also encourages flexible work arrangements
“whereby employees have approval to carry out some or all of their work duties from a location other than their designated workplace”.
