Collective Bargaining (CB) Committee
The Component Collective Bargaining Committee shall:
Have oversight for all matters pertaining to CIU’s participation in the Collective Bargaining under the PSAC as Bargaining Agent, with a view to protecting CIU members’ interests; this includes:
- Issuance of Bargaining Demand Input Call;
- Receipt and review of Bargaining Demands from CIU members for referral to the PSAC Bargaining Conferences;
- Issuance of communications, updates, memos that inform and mobilize members in relation to collective bargaining;
- Ensuring representation of CIU members at PSAC Bargaining Conferences; and
- Make recommendations to the National Executive for the appointment of members to the National FB Bargaining team.
Recommendation Carried (Oct 2006 NBoD Meeting):
The Committee recommends that the responsibility for negotiating an Essential Services Agreement rests upon the National Component and that the Committee will consult with all the Branches. The responsibility entails:
- Identify the types of services, facilities or operations that we believe to be essential,
- Determine the level of service required,
- Determine the number of positions required to deliver the service at the level specified,
- Identify specifically what duties are necessary to provide the essential service at the determined level, and
- Identify which specific positions will be deemed essential.
