2017 Branch Elections Kit

The new 2017 Branch Elections Kit is now available. For more information on the branch electoral process, please see Rule 12 in the CIU Branch Rules, or contact your Branch President.

Important Dates

The Outgoing Branch Executive must appoint the Chair and the Secretary of the Branch’s Nominations Elections Committee (NEC) (and notify the National Office of these appointments) by August 30, 2017. The NEC will then be tasked with overseeing the Branch electoral process.

Branches can follow one of two timetables: The No Mail-In Ballot Schedule or the Mail-In Ballot Schedule, depending on whether or not mail-in ballots are used.

No Mail-In Ballot Schedule (overview)

  • Nominations period: Oct. 2 to Oct. 8 (midnight local time)
  • Campaigning period: Oct. 9 to Oct. 15 (midnight local time)
  • Voting period: Oct. 16 to Nov. 5 (5 p.m. local time)
  • Counting ballots: Nov. 5 (5 p.m. local time)
  • Results posted on National CIU website: Nov. 6

Mail-In Ballot Schedule (overview)

  • Nominations period: Oct. 2 to Oct. 8 (midnight local time)
  • Campaigning period: Oct. 9 to Oct. 15 (midnight local time)
  • Mail-in ballots distribution: Oct. 9 to Oct. 22 (midnight local time)
  • Voting period: Oct. 16 to Nov. 5 (5 p.m. local time)
  • Counting ballots: Nov. 12 (5 p.m. local time)
  • Results posted on National CIU website: Nov. 13
