19th National Convention — Second Day

The second day of the 19th National Convention was busy as always. In particular, delegates voted to adopt the budget for the next two years (the pandemic having had an impact on the duration of the next mandate). Nominations & Elections Chair (and CLC Executive Vice-President) Larry Rousseau — pictured below — also briefed Convention delegates on the procedure to follow for the elections taking place on on Day 3.

On the last day of the 18th Convention, delegates voted on Convention Resolutions, and elected the 2017-2020 CIU National Executive, Human Rights Representative, Young Workers Representative, and Alternates:

2017 Convention Attendees

The second day of the 18th National Convention was a busy one, with the adoption of the reports of the four National Vice-Presidents, as well as the reports of the Equity and Youth Reps. Delegates also voted to adopt the budget for the next three years. Convention attendees also heard presentations from several guests such as Scott Newark, FB group negotiator Morgan Gay, and Shelina Merani.

Day 1 of Convention 2017 Recap

September 29 was the first day of the CIU’s 18th National Convention. Throughout the day, Convention attendees heard speeches from guest speakers, including Robyn Benson, National President of PSAC, who delivered the keynote address. Delegates were also occupied with Convention business, including the report of the CIU National President.

Convention attendees also participated in a rally in front of CBSA’s office in downtown Ottawa. See the post here for more information.
